The Mt Baker Neighborhood is centered along Sunset Drive, which is a major arterial of Bellingham heading east and eventually turning into the Mt Baker Hwy. There is high density commercial use along Sunset Drive continuing to Woburn Street toward the Barkley Boulevard intersection. The suburban characteristics of the neighborhood, as well as the presence of open space areas, trails and view corridors continue to be valued by neighborhood residents.
East of the Barkley Urban Development Center there is a large development of upper-scale homes. Many of these homes have views of the entire City of Bellingham as well as Bellingham Bay and the Canadian Coastal Mountain Range. This neighborhood is adjacent to the 45 acres of open space known as Northridge Park.
